MIM For Weapon Industry
Many mechanical parts with advanced geometry and strain tolerance are employed in the manufacturing of metal injection molding weapons parts. These weapons parts must be able to tolerate strain. The high percentage of the volume that would need to be chipped (80–90%), for instance, if one wants to make these parts through chip removal, would result in very expensive prices. Due to the total material usage and lack of chip processing, MIM parts produce much reduced costs while yet meeting the same standards thanks to their high strength. Such parts can be found, for instance, in a pistol's breech or in semi-automatic and automatic weapons. MIM components have other applications in the military business, ranging from self-defense to guided missiles and aviation.
